Patrick Torrent has a degree in Organizational Psychology from the University of Barcelona and a Law degree from UNED. He has also completed training in Marketing Management at ESADE and in Information Systems Management at Master Associates.
He began his professional career in the financial sector (“la Caixa” and the Bank for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises), and since 1990 he has been active in the tourism sector. From 1990 to 2001, at RACC, he created and organized the tourism and leisure business line (retail travel agency, wholesale agency, 24-hour agency, and telephone service). Later, from 2001 to 2005, he was manager and administrator at ADD Viatges Corporatius, a travel agency specializing in incentive travel, conventions, and congresses, owned by the pharmaceutical group Lácer.
He was Deputy Director General of the Catalonia Tourism Consortium from 2005 to 2009, and Deputy Director of the Catalan Tourist Board from its creation in 2010 until 2013. He is currently its Executive Director. He played a key role in establishing the Catalan Tourist Board and has actively promoted the development of two strategic tourism plans for Catalonia (2005–2010 and 2013–2016). He has coordinated all of Catalonia’s Tourism Marketing Plans. Additionally, he serves on the Affiliate Members Board of UN Tourism. From 2009 to 2011, he was permanent secretary of the Open University of Catalonia (UOC) Foundation and served as a board trustee.
He has been a speaker and organizer of various symposiums, seminars, conferences, and forums dedicated to tourism and tourism marketing. He has also worked as an associate professor at the University of Barcelona, ESADE, the University of Lleida, the University of Girona, Rovira i Virgili University, the University of Paris-Sorbonne, and the University of Cartagena de Indias.
Since October 2015, he has served as president and currently serves as vice president, representing Catalonia in the NECSTouR network (Network of European Regions for Sustainable and Competitive Tourism), based in Brussels, which brings together 37 tourist regions and 36 associated organizations.
