William E. Heinecke

Founder and Chairman

Minor International

William E. Heinecke is the founder and chairman of Minor International, a Thailand-based multinational spanning the Minor Hotels and Minor Food groups. He launched the company in Bangkok with $1,200 dollars in borrowed funds at the age of just 17, naming it “Minor Holdings” to reflect his status as a legal minor. Over six decades, he has transformed this small startup into a USD 5 billion hospitality empire with over 78,000 employees in 65 countries.

Known as one of Asia’s most inveterate entrepreneurs, Mr Heinecke’s maverick style, keen business acumen, and passion for experiential hospitality propelled has Minor Hotels into one of the world’s largest hospitality groups – home to brands like Anantara, Avani, Elewana Collection, Tivoli, and NH Hotels and boasting over 600 properties in 57 countries.

Mr Heinecke launched Minor Food in 1980 with a single pizza outlet, introducing the American fast-food concept to Thailand. The group now boasts 2,700 stores, including The Pizza Company, The Coffee Club, and Burger King, across 24 countries. Minor Lifestyle also operates nearly 300 retail stores in Thailand.

In his role as Chairman of the Board, Heinecke now focuses his energy on long-term strategy, philanthropy, and forging new partnerships. A Thai citizen since 1991, he is an avid adventurer, pilot, vintage car collector, and co-owner of Mjets – Thailand’s first first and only private jet FBO
